Abstract: The major antimicrobial compound, named lansioside D, was isolated from the fruit peel of Lansium domesticum. Its structure was elucidated by different spectroscopic methods, including ID and 2D NMR experiments and HR-FABMS analysis. Evaluation of its antimicrobial activity against a wide spectrum of microorganisms showed that it has remarkable activity against the Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, and moderate activity against the Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli. It has no activity against yeasts and molds.
