Abstract: Somatic karyotype analysis was carried out in Thespesia lampas (Cav.) Dalz. & Gibs., a member of the plant family malvaceae. Somatic chromosome number of this species was confirmed to be 2n=26. Individual chromosome length was ranged from 1.88 µm to 1.00 µm and total length of the haploid complement was 18.96 µm. According to Stebbins classification (1971) the karyotype was 2B symmetric type and TF% was 35.89. The centromeric formula formula of haploid complement was 1m+6nm+5sm+1s.
