This research explores the agricultural practices and challenges of smallholder farmers in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, India. It focused on tribal and non-tribal communities. It emphasizes the important role of agriculture in rural development. Poverty alleviation and food security of these production levels are low due to factors such as insufficient use of fertilizers, pest control and irrigation using traditional farming techniques used by farmers, especially in corn cultivation, through a survey of 320 smallholder tribal and non-tribal farmers. The key reasons behind the under-implementation of recommended agricultural practices have been identified. The results indicate that the high cost of fertilizer is the main reason for the decline in application rates. while seed damage to livestock contributes to overuse of seeds. Tribal and non-tribal farmers emphasize increased productivity. This is because the motivation to adopt the transplant method represents a reluctance to continue. The study emphasized the need for innovative agricultural technology to increase sustainable production. economic growth and long-term food security while also addressing the unique challenges smallholder tribal and non-tribal farmers face in resource-constrained environments.
