Participation in decision making of Gond farm women regarding agricultural activities

Abstract:
Decision-making is the process of identifying and choosing alternatives based on the values, preferences and beliefs of the decision maker. The farm Gond women decision-making is limited by available information, available time and the mind's information-processing ability. Hence the present study was conducted to analyse the participation in decision making of women regarding agricultural activities. 120 farm women were selected as respondents through random sampling technique. Relevant data were collected with the help of personal interview schedule. The data were analyzed using appropriate statistical tools. Analysis of the data showed that involvement of farm women in decision-making process in agriculture activities was decision making with others cooperation. It is because the majority of farm women are illiterate, have little knowledge about the latest techniques of farming, face dominance by males and restricted mobility due to several cultural norms.
