Abstract:
Antimicrobial activity of different solvent leaf extracts from
Mallotus rhamnifolius was evaluated against certain pathogenic gram positive and gram negative bacteria as
Bacillus cereus,
Staphylocous aureus,
Escherichia coli and
Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungal pathogens such as
Aspergillus niger and
Fusarium oxysporum by Agar well diffusion method. It was showed that the different extracts had potent antimicrobial activity against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial pathogens and fungal pathogens. Gentamicin was used as positive control for bacteria and Ketoconazole was used for fungi. In this study, quantitative values of antioxidant activity such as ABTS, FRAP and nitric acid radical scavenging activity were analyzed to determine both scavenging ability and the reducing properties of different solvent leaf extracts of
Mallotus rhamnifolius. The free radical scavenging activities were compared with standard antioxidants like Rutin.
