Abstract:

Naringi crenulata (Roxb.) Nicolson (Rutaceae) is an important medicinal plant, commonly distributed in India, Myanmar, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Java and Pakistan. It is popularly called as ‘Bilvaparni’ or ‘Mahavilvam’ in India and ‘Thanaka’ by the people of Myanmar. The leaves, stem, bark, fruit and root of the plant are used as traditional remedies for various diseases, sun protection and skin care cosmetics. The present study deals with the pharmacognostic and phytochemical (physico-chemical, extraction yield and thin-layer chromatographic profiles) evaluation of leaf and stem of fore said plant.
