Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD), a common condition among reproductive-age women, is marked by hormonal imbalances and anovulation. In Ayurveda, it is seen as a Kapha predominant disorder involving Aartavavaha Srotas, Agni Mandya (Digestive impairment), and Ama (Toxic waste) formation, with vitiation of Kapha and Vata, specifically Apana Vayu leading to Artava Nasha. A 25-year-old female with irregular menstruation and metabolic imbalances was treated with Shamana Chikitsa (Palliative therapy). Treatment included Kapha-pacifying, Agni-normalizing drugs like Shunthi, Ajamoda, Erandamula, and Rasayana herbs like Amalaki and Guduchi. After three months, improvements in menstrual regularity, reduced dysmenorrhea (WaLIDD Scale), and other symptoms were noted. This case underscores the efficacy of Shamana Chikitsa in PCOD, showing that Ayurvedic approaches focused on Agni Deepana (Digestive stimulation) and Ama Pachana (Detoxification) can improve reproductive health.
