Ayurvedic regimen for improving the quality of life in sickle cell Anemia: A case study

Abstract:

Ayurveda is the most ancient and renowned system of medicine in India. It is more than 5000 years old system. But yet has the potential to cure and prevent many diseases in an efficient manner. Sickle Cell Anaemia is seen in 250000 children every year worldwide. The disease is incurable and needs long term treatment to maintain the quality of life of patients. SCD can be correlated with Panduroga from Ayurveda point of view. Panduroga is a syndrome rather than a disease. In which various systems are involved and itself a disease also where Panduta (pallor) is the main feature. There are various similar Characteristics of sickle cell anemia and Panduroga. In this case report, a diagnosed patient of SCD has been treated with Ayurvedic approach in order to improve his quality of life.
