Microbiological analysis of topical products is an essential to ensure the safety and determine the quality control process for the pharmaceutical industry. Our previous microbiological studies on cosmetics revealed a huge number of bacterial and fungal growths within the sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals products. As a continuation of those studies, present study further attempted to emphasize on the microbiological quality of the more 12 commonly used cream and ointment items by the majority of the community within Dhaka Metropolis. The abundance of contaminating microorganisms has been quantitatively discussed and the possible health risk has been focused upon usage of these items. Conventional microbiological assay was performed along with the confirmative biochemical identification of the microbial isolates proliferating within the cosmetic items. Current research revealed the presence of enormous bacteria and fungi within the commonly used topical items. The prevalence of pathogenic microorganisms in the non-sterile pharmaceuticals items certainly raises a substantial public health issue.
