Vasicine is the main constituent of Vasa Avleha which has a bronchodilator, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, anti-tussive, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The percentage of Vasicine is variable in leaves or panchang of Vasa. Hence the objectives of this study is to compare the percentage of Vasicine in Vasa Avleha prepared from Swaras (sample 1) and Kwath (sample 2). The outcomes were assessed on the based on HPTLC analysis of Vasicine in Vasa Avleha. HPTLC results showed the percentage of Vasicine is greater in Sample 1 than Sample 2. So, it is concluded that the management of the respiratory disease with Vasa Avleha prepared from Vasapatra Swarasa having higher concentration of Vasicine due to its bronchodilator activity.
