Humans have utilised medicinal plants for their healing properties since the dawn of civilisation. For thousands of years, therapeutic compounds have been found in nature, and a remarkable number of contemporary medications have been derived from natural sources. There is always a lot of interest in investigating plant-based nutraceuticals as a substitute for synthetic medications in order to mitigate their side effects and for financial reasons. Tinospora cordifolia, also known by the popular names "Guduchi" and "Giloy," is used in traditional ayurveda literature to cure a variety of illnesses. Interest in the plant has grown as a result of its active ingredients and biological role in illness prevention. The most significant part that are used medicinally are the leaves, stem, and roots, even though almost every part of the plant is utilised in traditional medical systems. Tinospora cordifolia is a member of the Menispermaceae family. It has a wide variety of compounds that have an impact on the body. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of the knowledge regarding the chemical components and therapeutic uses of the Tinospora cordifolia plant.
