Leucas aspera, also referred to as "Thummichattu," is found in the plains of maturity, Java, and the Philippines in addition to India. The flower is used as an expectorant to treat coughs and as an aspirant to ease constipation. As a cough cure, honey is used with the floral arrangements. Leucas aspera flowers therefore contain a wide range of antifungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties and are a source of medicinally useful chemicals.
