Abstract:

Camellia luongii Tran et Le. was discovered for the first time in Dinh Hoa District, Thai Nguyen Province, North Vietnam, and was determined as a new species. In 2022, the Camellia luongii Tran & Le was collected from the natural forests of Lung Than, located in the Si Ma Cai district of Lao Cai province, Vietnam. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the cytotoxic activity on cancer cells of HEK-293A, A549, HepG2, MCF7, HT-29, SK-MEL-2, AGS from old leaves, leaf buds, and fruit husks extracts of this species with ethanol 95%. These extracts showed moderate cytotoxic activity on all the tested cell lines with IC50 from 21.75±0.88 to 78.26±3.75 µg/mL.
