Abstract:

In recent years, there has been a significant shift in consumer preference toward natural alternatives to synthetic compounds in food and hair care products. While synthetic compounds have been widely used for their cost-effectiveness and stability, concerns regarding their long-term safety, bioavailability, and potential health risks have led to an increasing demand for natural substitutes. The growing awareness of sustainability, health benefits, and the adverse effects of synthetic chemicals has encouraged researchers to explore plant-based alternatives with functional properties. This review examines the potential of several natural ingredients, including Reetha (Soap nut), Shikakai, Aloe Vera, Fenugreek, Hibiscus, Hemp Seeds, Moringa Powder and Flaxseeds, as substitutes for synthetic compounds in hair care and food applications. These plant-derived ingredients are rich in bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, phenolic acids, vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids, which provide a wide range of benefits, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and scalp-nourishing properties. The global market for natural and organic products has been growing rapidly by increasing consumer awareness on sustainability and chemical-free solutions. The integration of natural ingredients into daily routines. The plant-based and sustainable products continue to rise, the demand for innovative natural substitutes is expected to grow. This shift toward nature-based solutions represents a promising step toward a healthier, more sustainable future.
