Abstract: The disease of diabetes is one of the important problems of the world and the number of patients suffering from it, is growing day by day. Diabetic foot ulcer is a devastating component of diabetes progression and is caused by loss of glycemic control, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease and immunosuppression. An estimated 15% of patients with diabetes have diabetic foot ulcers, during their lifetime. The aim of the present review is to summarize the cause, pathogenetic mechanisms leading to diabetic foot and to focus on the treatment and the management of this important health issue
