Abstract: A field study entitled “Effect of Planting Techniques and Nitrogen levels on Growth and Dry Matter Distribution of Bajra” was carried out at the Instructional Farm, College of Agriculture, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner during <em>Kharif, </em>2018 on loamy sand soil. The experiment comprised twelve treatments <em>viz;</em> four levels of nitrogen (control, 40, 80<strong> </strong>and 120 kg N ha^-1) and three planting patterns (flat bed sowing, ridge sowing and pit planting (3 plants pit^-1)) was laid out in Randomized block design with three replications. Results showed that pit planting (3 plants pit^-11x1x1feet at 80x80 cm) with 80 kg N ha^-1 recorded maximum plant height, number of tillers plant^-1, and dry matter accumulation in root, stem and ear head and total dry matter accumulation at 50 DAS. Further, ridge planting (2 plants hill^-1at 15 cm, apart 90 cm row spacing) with 120 kg N ha^-1 recorded the maximum leaves (147) and dry matter accumulation (192.50g per plant) at 50 DAS. Application of 80 kg N ha^-1in pit technique saved 40 kg N ha^-1as compared to ridge technique and flatbed sowing and recorded higher values of plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers and dry matter distribution representing 29.5, 81.8, 41.7 &amp; 64.5 and 13.8, 77.9, 58.3 &amp; 56.41 per cent, respectively.
