Abstract:
There is an unprecedented growing interest in natural triterpenes in the last few decades due to the discovery of their potential biological and pharmacological activities. Ursolic acid (3β-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic) (UA) (4) is a pentacyclic triterpene, occurring in many plant parts including fruits and seeds. This paper reviews several studies on the in vitro and in vivo pharmacological activities of UA (4). This review brings to limelight sources and the beneficial potentials of UA (4) in foods, cosmetics and medicine.
