Abstract: The present study was conducted to identify the major phytochemical compounds in the leaves of Hydnocarpus macrocarpa (Beddome) Warb., an endemic and endangered species from South India. The methanolic extract of leaf was subjected to phytochemical screening by HPTLC. The analysis revealed that the leaf extract of H. macrocarpa is rich in phytochemical compounds like Alkaloids, Essential oils, Flavonoids, Flavonoid glycosides, Phenolics, Saponins, Steroids, Tannins and Triterpenes.
