Abstract: Genetic variability is a prerequisite feature of any crop improvement programme and induced mutagenesis has become a proven way of creating new variations within a crop variety. The utility of this method is evident from the fact that in several crops induced mutants have been released as new varieties. Intensive efforts of induced mutagenesis have been also made for the improvement of oilseed brassicas. This review summarizes various efforts of induced mutagenesis, deals with qualitative and quantitative improvement of oilseed brassicas.
