Abstract:
The present study carried out during February - 2014 to February - 2015 at Floriculture Research Farm, conducted on thirteen warm season turfgrass genotypes in which fastest new growth appearance (50%) was observed in
C. dactylon L. 'Local'. Lowest culm length was recorded in
Zoysia tenuifolia.
S. secundatum showed lowest shoot root ratio.
C. dactylon L. ‘Panam’ recorded maximum number of floret per spikelet for effective seed production but reduced the turf aesthetic quality
. Z. tenuifolia, Z. matrella and
C. dactylon L. × C. transvaalensis 'Tifdwarf' showed very fine texture of leaves.
C. dactylon L. × C. transvaalensis 'Tifdwarf' showed consistently good average colour rating, aesthetic appearance, turfing ability in the whole period of experimentation. Minimum cumulative weed population was observed in
S. secundatum which was followed by
A. compressus.
