Abstract:
Colors provide attractive appearance to the marketable products such as food, textiles and pharmaceutical products. There are many artificial synthetic colors which have been used widely in several industries like food, cosmetics, textiles and pharmaceuticals. Although these synthetic colors are reliable and economical as compared to natural colors which are expensive, less stable and possess lower intensity, many of such synthetic colors have also been banned due to their hyper-allergencity, carcinogenicity and other toxicological problems. These issues associated with then adverse effects of synthetic colors have triggered intense research on natural colors and dyes. Microorganism are known as a potential source for bio pigment production due to their advantages as well as their applications in various fields.
