Abstract:
Plant based traditional knowledge has become an organized tool in search for new sources of drugs and neutraceuticals. Phytochemicals are primary and secondary compounds that occur naturally in plants. Phytoscience created from the integration of a range of disciplines, combine several different areas of chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, medicine and agriculture. Researchers within the phytosciences work to elucidate and identify the bioactive components and define the best methods of extraction. Therefore, in the present study the phytochemical constituents were screened from the leaf and flower extracts of Jasminum fluminense.
