Abstract: Drought monitoring is a key component of drought preparedness and SPI is a very flexible tool to analyze drought at different time scales accurately. The present study aims to identify drought using Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) for Wainganga sub-basin using rainfall data from India Meteorological Data (IMD) Pune, Maharashtra. Result from the analysis shows that the year 1972 was the year of severe and extreme drought for different time scales.
