Abstract: The objective of the study was to investigate the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effect of Methanolic extract of Bombax ceiba bark. The antioxidant activities of the extract Was evaluated using in vitro Ferric reducing power, other activities like Free radical scavenging activity by DPPH method, hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, Nitric oxide radical scavenging activity, Super oxide anion Radical Scavenging Activity and total antioxidant capacity were also carried out. The Anti-inflammatory potential of the extract was evaluated using Hyaluronidase inhibition assay. The effect was compared with a known antioxidant agent (BHA/Ascorbic acid). It was found that the extract at different concentration was exhibited a significant dose dependent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect.
