Efficacy of diminazene aceturate in buffalo trypanosomosis in Chhattisgarh

Abstract:
A female Murrah buffalo of age 2.5 years was presented to the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex of College of Veterinary Science & A.H., Anjora, Durg, Chhattisgarh with the history of recurrent fever, anorexia, frequent micturition, nervous sign, pale mucous membrane and loss of appetite. On blood smear examination
Trypanosoma spp. infection (+++) was observed. The buffalo was treated with diminazene aceturate (7.0 mg/kg) and blood smears were examined after every 24 h showing gradual decrease in the level of parasitaemia followed by complete recovery of animal within a week.
