Abstract:
The main aim of the present investigation was to study the heterosis of plant defence enzymes in six tomato hybrids that are bred in Line x Tester fashion. Exploitation of hybrid vigour through heterosis breeding by considering the induction of plant defence enzymes like total phenols, peroxidase, IAA oxidase and acid phosphatase in roots can be utilized. It was found that heterosis was appreciable in all the hybrids but it wasmore in the two hybrids
viz., Arka Abha×HN2 and E812×HN2 for all the defence enzymes studied. These crosses can be selected for the exploitation of hybrid vigour and commercial utilization under root knot nematode infested areas.
