Abstract:
An experiment on Tomato hybrids was carried out during December 2017 to April 2018 in Departmental Research Field of Department of Horticulture, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) India. The results of the present investigation, regarding the evaluation of tomato for plant growth, fruit yield and quality of Tomato Hybrids, have been discussed and interpreted in the light of previous research work done in India and abroad. The experiment was conducted in Randomized block design with 25 Hybrids of Tomato obtained from different sources, were each hybrids replicated thrice. From the present experiments it is found that the Hybrid H
24 (Arka Rakshak) followed by H
7 (VNR - 3348) and H
23 (Kashi Hemant) is found best in terms of growth and yield parameters of Tomato hybrids and in terms of quality parameters Hybrid H
20 (Excel - 204) is found best for most of the quality parameters, and lowest readings was recorded in Hybrid H
4 (Hybrid Taj), H
14 (Abhilash) and H
16 (NS - 585). H
24 (Arka Rakshak) also recorded maximum return/ha and Cost benefit ratio/ha. Hence the hybrids Arka Rakshak, VNR – 3348 and Kashi Hemant is recommended for cultivation in climatic condition of Prayagraj.
