Abstract:
An experiment was conducted at Horticulture Research Station, Dr. Y. S. R Horticultural University, Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari district during
kharif season, 2018
to study the performance of okra (
Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) hybrids for growth, yield and quality characters. Analysis of variance revealed that there were significant differences among genotypes for all the traits under study. Plant height ranged from 61.07 cm to 130.47 cm with a grand mean of 93.42 cm. Number of nodes per plant, ranged from 11.33 to 16.47 with a grand mean of 13.55. Average fruit weight ranged from 12.90 g to 24.93g with a grand mean of 19.45 g. Fruit yield per plant ranged from 211.60g to 342.00g with a grand mean of 274.81g. Fruit moisture content varied from and 82.87% to 92.75% with a grand mean of 88.36%. Mucilage content ranged from 6.33
g/kg to 9.83 g/kg with a grand mean of 7.88 g/kg.
