Abstract: Harvest yield relies on the quality of seed sown. To get the best returns, the quality of the seed should be of top priority. Seed physical, biochemical characters contribute to the success of seed. If the crop is taken in fallow conditions, the ultimate success of the crop depends on seed characters and quality. The present investigation was undertaken to characterize the relationship between the seed characters and quality of lentil WBL-58, at the department of plant physiology, B.C.K.V during the year 2017-18. Concerning physiological standpoint, seed screening is most important to mitigate the stress for late sown lentil in West Bengal field condition and to develop an effective protocol to grow a healthy crop with better yield.
