Abstract:
Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion), family Asteraceae is widely distributed in the warmer temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere. It is known for its variety of curative properties and is anciently used in the treatment of various diseases such as dyspepsia, heartburn, spleen and liver complaints, hepatitis, anorexia, etc. Phytochemically, the plant contains artemetin, quercetin, luteolin, luteolin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, caffeic acid, esculetin, stigmasterol, lutein epoxide and taraxasteryl acetate.
