Corchorus olitorius L. is an edible herbal plant belonging to the family Malvaceae. Commonly; it is called "Jew’s mallow" or "Jute Nalta." It is widely used as a vegetable in Asia and Africa. In India, it is used in the Textile and paper industries. Corchorus olitorius has been shown to have various pharmacological activities such as antitumor activity, antihyperglcaemic effect, antipyretic effect, analgesic effect. The aim of this article is to provide information regarding the pharmacological activity and botanical description of the Jute plant.
