Abstract:
The experiment was conducted at Zonal Research Station, Chianki (Birsa agricultural University, Ranchi), Palamau during the Kharif season in years 2014 and 2015. The twenty drought tolerant sorghum genotypes viz., CSV-15, CSV-18, CSV-1955, CSV-20, CSV-21-F, CSV-22, CSV-24SS, CSV-26, CSV-27, CSV-29, SPV-462, CSH-13, CSH-14, CSH-16, CSH-20MF, CSH-22SS, CVSH24MF, RS-29, C-43 and SSV-84were sown in the randomized block design with three replications. The data were recorded and analyzed for six yield and yield attributing characters viz., grain yield(q/ha), days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height, spike length and 1000 seed weight to identify the most suitable genotypes for Western Plateau of Jharkhand. The results of pooled data of two years were evaluated and found the genotypes namely found superior and yielded CSV-27(31.6q/ha) followed by CSH-7(28.8q/ha), CSV-15(28.4q/ha) and SPV-462 (27.8q/ha) and also studied maturity and found the early maturing group of genotypes CSV-20,CSV-21F and CVSHMF were mature in (109 days) followed by the genotypes CSH-20MF and CSV-1955 mature in (110days).On the basis of performance of these genotypes may considered as best genotypes for their recommendation for cultivation in the farmers field in rainfed condition.
