Abstract:
Knowledge about the extent of genetic diversity/relatedness in grapes germplasm is vital for developing coherent strategies for future gains in productivity and quality. Genetic diversity of twenty four grape accessions maintained at new orchard of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) were studied using morphological descriptors given by International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) for grapes. Adequate genetic variation was found among the genotypes by using young shoot, mature leaf and mature shoot descriptors. Dendrogram of twenty four genotypes was constructed based on nine morphological markers by using UPGMA which divided24 grapes genotypes were into three main groups and seven subgroups. Genetic similarity values between genotypes ranged from 0.46 to 0.90.
