Abstract: Uttarakhand state is blessed with thousands of plants species. About 320 species have been identified having medicinal value. Various studies in the state shows that the major constraints in the MAP cultivation are high initial cost in production, poor quality of inputs and delay in their supply, lack of awareness about loan feasibility and incentives, no transparency in the trade, particularly on procurement source, and high processing cost. It has been suggested that concerted efforts should be made to address these constraints and increase access to the world market.
